What Massage and Bodywork Can do For You
One, some or all of the folowing techniques may be used in your session. Give your mind and body a state of total ease ~ gentle kneading, long smooth strokes and easy stretches bring you to a healing place. Chronic tension calls for focused, more intense work to loosen bound muscle and release troublesome knots. A personalized consultation will determine which of these techniques are best suited based on your needs. When receiving a more intensive treatment it is beneficial to breathe deeply and most important to communicate with your therapist if the experience is painful. Finding the line when your body nears its tolerance limit, without crossing it achieves maximum results. One cannot simply “muscle” their way in. Better to have tension eased; coaxing, not forcing ~ allowing for deeper, restorative breathing and an overall healthier sense of being.
Therapeutic/Deep Tissue
Despite the name, deep tissue massage does not necessarily mean “deep in the tissue.” More aptly described, this work is designed to provide specific focus on problem areas. Deep tissue massage addresses areas of persistent aches and pain and chronic muscle tightness and is often used to aid in injury recovery and rehabilitation. Your deep tissue session may incorporate other techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and stretching.
REQUEST AN APPOINTMENTCupping
Cupping is in some ways the opposite of massage: Massage Cupping is a modern adaptation of the ancient art of cupping therapy. While massage is sustained compression, performed by applying pressure, cupping instead uses negative static pressure to pull, lift, open and expand the body’s soft tissues. Because it is not a compressive technique, cupping can safely be performed directly over the spine and various other bones. This opens more therapeutic options than traditional massage in certain areas of the body. Cupping greatly enhances the effects of other modalities such as Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Swedish Massage, contributing to an increased rate of recovery from pain and disease with less discomfort.
